Over the past several years, American audiences have been terrified watching the terrorizing acts committed in the terror trilogy The Purge. These films details, in horrific fashion, what would happen when all laws in our society are suspended for 12 hours; where criminals are allowed to roam freely and commit horrible acts of violence and mayhem without fear of consequence. The general citizenry – those that end up surviving – live in abject fear and running for their lives. The government sponsored “Purge” is deemed necessary to control the population due to the excesses our society is burdened with.
But now, a new short film arrives to give audiences the real truth into a what a lawless 12 hour period would look like… The Surge.
Co-writers/directors Jared Sichel and Gabriel Yaffe teamed with producer Jeff Gasser to create a world where when government suspends all laws, regulations, and rules something quite different begins to happen. The Surge bubbles up through the fake news to highlight what could happen among the citizenry when they are no longer hamstrung by red tape, “do not” signs, and bureaucratic regulations.
The film was shot on location in and around Los Angeles and Orange Counties, and is currently in post-production. In order to bring this film across the finish line, the filmmakers are seeking some extra financial support from your fully tax-deductible donations. Your contributions are greatly appreciated and we look forward to counting down with you till The Surge begins.
