Were you lucky enough to live through the 80’s horror film golden era? Did you watch Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Evil Dead, Sleepaway Camp, and Halloween over and over and over? Well Marco V. Scola and Robert Hamilton did and for this short film, they mixed the classic horror film tropes – the “I’ll be right back.” moment, the young lovers in danger, the shy virgin, you get it – with some revolutionary original horror sequences all with a twisted take on Ayn Rand’s legendary novella, “Anthem.”
We is the story of five young friends who escape city life for a weekend camping in an abandoned youth camp. When one of them comes across hidden messages of collectivism smeared on the walls of the old locker room shower, it starts a chain reaction of events that leaves them all praying for a way out.
The script was written by Marco V. Scola and Robert Hamilton, directed by Scola, and produced and edited by Hamilton. Shot on location at real youth camp that was recently shuttered, the local brings an element of authenticity that transports you into the film. The actors are perfectly cast and feel lifted right out of your favorite cult favorite horror flick.
